This photo makes me happy and it’s from, you guessed it, my friend Libby.

    Happy Friday!

Sorry we’ve been a little light on the blog this week, it’s been a crazy busy good one.

Full of travel and work and lots of laughter.

So. I was in the airport Wednesday night and I picked up a very cool book:

Wellbeing, The Five Essential Elements by Tom Rath and JIm Harter.

According to Rath and Harter, the Five Elements of Wellbeing are:

    1. Career
    2. Social
    3. Financial
    4. Physical
    5. Community

This book caught my eye because I really do believe the work many of us are doing now, creating communities, actually increases overall wellbeing. I’ll write more about that subject once I full digest the section on Community Wellbeing and the role that plays in our lives.

But for today, in place of our traditional Chat Pack Friday Question, I have a question of my own — inspired by the book.

    So here goes, you ready?

What are you looking forward to at work today?

Think about it, if you experience Career Wellbeing, you wake up excited to tackle your day, you are looking forward to something. Your weekend and workdays are not that much different. For me personally, I often feel the lines are blurred between work and play.

    I enjoy both equally.

Okay sure, I’d be flat out lying if I said I didn’t have some really hard days I dread or tasks I’d rather not do, but for the most part I get up every single day excited to head out and start my day.

Every Friday we have a team meeting at Brains on Fire and today I asked this simple question of everyone. We went around the room and shared. It was interesting to me that the routine of our days plays a large part in our happiness. Socializing and sharing makes the work better and creates a more engaged team. This book is full of proof about that. These guys are big believers, like me, that a best friend at work makes the work more remarkable. I think the best companies and teams are groups of best friends.Try asking this question with your team at work. It will make you smile and you’ll learn a lot.

    So, back to today’s question:

In Chat Pack tradition, I’ll got first.

For starters, I get to jump on a new biz call in about 20 minutes and I love that. Love to connect with folks who are trying to determine if what we do is a good fit for their organization. I also love Fridays because it is the day we come together as team and discuss our work and our week. That time of connection is a fun time for me.

    So.

What are you looking forward to at work today?

Come on. You know you have something. Even if it’s like Logan’s (our CFO). He’s just really excited to finally complete our taxes.
