We seem to have a knack for attracting multi-talented people here at Brains on Fire, and Miss Beth DeLong has a stacked deck. Not only could she take you on a world-sized geographical tour of our planet, she could tell you the history behind the places you visit, write your travel stories for you, take care of your finances, teach your kids to play soccer and rock climb, and leave you with a kitchen-set of beautiful handmade ceramics before it’s all over. (No, she’s not looking for another job. So don’t ask.)

Beth was born and raised a sophisticated southerner in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia, but made the trek down to Savannah to learn how to practice medicine. Halfway through the science marathon, she decided that the tributaries of the world were more interesting that the tributaries of the human body and graduated with dual degrees in history and geography from Georgia Southern.

A woman of world knowledge, Beth returned to the big city and tried her hand at both accounting for a vintage motorsports firm and delighting hungry customers at a high-end bakery (did we say multi-talented?). The cutthroat nature of the concrete jungle slowly ate at her, though, and she sought a quieter life in the music town of Athens. There, Beth did just about every administrative thing that needs to be done to make a veterinary hospital run, then left the finely-tuned machine to hitch her horse at Brains on Fire.

Around here we try to take advantage of all of Beth’s skills (we’re still trying to figure out how to work in rock climbing, though). She helps Logan wrangle greenbacks, Heather and Cathy rock our client’s worlds and tackles any administrative task put in front of her with as much vigor as she would on the soccer field.

When she’s not keeping the Brains on Fire gears well oiled, you’ll likely find Beth somewhere in the great outdoors, daydreaming about fine art and restoring rare documents for museums.
