Brains on Fire’s newest Community Shepherd was born in Taylors, South Carolina, but quickly expanded her horizons bouncing around Europe as a kid. After stints in England, Holland and New Jersey, Emily settled back in the Upstate, completely bypassing the awkwardness that is middle school in the US. (Lucky girl!)

Though she secretly wanted to be an artist, Emily opted for planning art shows in high school and interning with Artisphere during college. She graduated with two degrees from Clemson University, ultimately settling in Easley, South Carolina, just up the road from her alma mater.

Emily spent the first five years out of college cutting her teeth at another small firm, wearing many hats and developing an odd specialty in the wastewater industry and environmental education, among other things. Emily came to Brains on Fire looking for a new professional challenge and quickly found that…and a new family as well.

Emily recently married her beau of nine years, and they happily spend their time buying dog food and vacuuming up after their small pack of four-legged family members.
